Four Women Taking on New Roles on University Faculties

wilsonAlison Wilson, professor and vice chair of the department of surgery at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, has been given the additional duty as director of the university’s Institute for Critical Care and Trauma.

Dr. Wilson holds the Skewes Family Chair for Trauma Surgery at the medical school. She received her medical training at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

chizhovaKsenia Chizhova was appointed an assistant professor of East Asian studies at Princeton University. She will begin teaching at Princeton in the fall of 2016. Dr. Chizhova is a scholar of Korean literature.

Dr. Chizhova is a graduate of the American University of Bulgaria. She earned a Ph.D. at Columbia University in New York City.

ONealChristine Knoblauch-O’Neal, professor of the practice in dance in the performing arts department at Washington University in St. Louis, was named director of the new master of fine arts program in dance at the university.

Dr. Knoblauch-O’Neal has performed with the American Ballet Theatre and other companies and danced in the film Turning Point. She is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Professor Knoblauch-O’Neal holds a master’s degree from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a Ph.D. in dance from Texas Woman’s University.

Natalie Shapero is a new professor of practice in poetry at Tufts University in Massachusetts. She had taught at Kenyon College in Ohio and was an associate editor of the Kenyon Review. She is the author of the poetry collection No Object (Saturnalia Books, 2013).

Professor Shapero is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She holds a master of fine arts degree in poetry from Ohio State University and a law degree from the University of Chicago.
