Four Women Scholars Taking on New Faculty Roles

mukherjeeBhramar Mukherjee, the John D. Kalbfleish Collegiate Professor of Biostatistics and professor of epidemiology at the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan, has been given the additional duty as associate director for population science research at the university’s Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Mukherjee is a graduate of Presidency College in Kolkata, India. She earned a master’s degree at the Indian Statistical Institute and a a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

judy-chaJudy J. Cha was named the Carol and Douglas Melamed Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science at Yale University. She joined the faculty at Yale in 2013 after conducting postdoctoral research at Stanford University.

Dr. Cha is a graduate of Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. She earned a Ph.D. at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

manoa-hanabusaColleen Hanabusa was named a lecturer and the Daniel K. Inouye Visiting Scholar at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She will teach a course during the spring semester on the topic of civil liberties in times of crisis.

Hanabusa is the first woman to serve as president of the Hawaii Senate. She served two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015. Hanabusa earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in sociology, and a law degree from the University of Hawaii.

weberr.fullRebecca Weber was named an assistant professor of library science at Oklahoma State University. She was an instruction librarian at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

Weber is a graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. She holds a master of library and information science degree from the University of Oklahoma.
