Six Women in New Faculty Roles at U.S. Colleges and Universities

Claudia-ArteagaClaudia Arteaga was appointed an assistant professor of Hispanic studies at Scripps College in Claremont, California. She comes to Scripps College from Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she is completing work on her Ph.D. in Spanish literature.

Arteaga is a graduate of Catholic University in Lima, Peru, where she majored in linguistics and literature. She holds a master’s degree in Spanish from Rutgers University.

Christena Cleveland is a new associate professor at the Duke University Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. She also serves as the director of the Center for Reconciliation at the school. Dr. Cleveland was serving on the faculty at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is the author of Disunity in Christ: Uncovering the Hidden Forces that Keep Us Apart (Intervarsity Press, 2013)

Dr. Cleveland is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

S_Isengildina_OlgaOlga Isengildina-Massa was appointed associate professor of agricultural and applied economics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was an associate clinical professor of economics at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Isengildina-Massa is a graduate of Tashkent State University in Uzbekistan. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Mississippi State University.

Zella Palmer was named chair of the Ray Charles Program in African American Material Culture at Dillard University in New Orleans. She has served as director of the program since 2014. In this post she will direct the university’s culinary studies program.

Palmer is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, where she majored in bilingual/bicultural education. She holds a master’s degree in museum studies from the University of Toronto.

hohlerAnna Hohler, an associate professor of neurology at Boston University, has been given the additional duties of director of the new Center for Military and Post-Deployment Health at the university’s medical school.

Dr. Hohler hold a bachelor’s degree and a medical degree from Boston University. She completed a neurology internship and residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.

LinnLorraine Linn is a new associate professor of small animal medicine in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee University in Alabama. She served for 25 years in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps.

Dr. Linn holds a master’s degree from Oklahoma State University and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from North Carolina State University.

Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
