Hamilton College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Clinton, New York, has announced that four faculty members have been promoted to full professor. Three of these promotions went to women.
Heather Merrill was named professor of Africana studies. She joined the faculty in 2009 after teaching at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She is the author of An Alliance of Women: Immigration and the Politics of Race(University of Minnesota Press, 2006). Professor Merrill is a graduate of New York University. She holds master’s degrees from Columbia University, the University of Chicago, and the University of California, Berkeley. She earned her Ph.D. at Berkeley with her dissertation entitled “Speaking Subjects: Remaking Feminism and Race in the New Migrant Europe.”
Cheryl Morgan was promoted to professor of French. She is chair of the French department at the college. Dr. Morgan is a specialist in nineteenth-century literature with particular interest in French women writers, literary humor, and urban literature. A graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, Professor Morgan earned a master’s degree at Middlebury College in Vermont and a Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York City.
Lisa N. Trivedi is now a full professor of history at Hamilton College. She specializes in the social history of South Asia. Dr. Trivedi is the author of Clothing Gandhi’s Nation: Homespun and Modern India (Indiana University Press, 2007). Professor Trivedi is a graduate of Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where she double majored in political science and history. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Trivedi joined the Hamilton College faculty in 2000.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
