Three Women Are Finalists for Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies at the University of Kansas

university-of-kansas-logoThe University of Kansas has announced three finalists for the position of vice provost for undergraduate studies. The candidates have visited campus in recent days for a series of interviews and presentations. All three candidates are women.

ratchleyRuth Ann Atchley is a professor and chair of the department of psychology at the University of Kansas. She has been on the faculty at the university since 1998 and was promoted to full professor in 2013. Professor Atchley has served as president of the Faculty Senate at the University of Kansas. Dr. Atchley is a graduate of Ohio State University. She holds master’s and Ph.D. degrees in psychology from the University of California, Riverside and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois.

abirberickAnne L Birberick is vice provost for undergraduate academic affairs at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. She has served in that role since 2011 and has been on the university’s faculty since 1992. Earlier, she taught at the University of Virginia and the University of Orleans in France. Dr. Birberick is a graduate of Arizona State University, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in French from the University of Virginia.

burns-wallace-fullDeAngela Burns-Wallace is assistant vice provost for undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri in Columbia. From 2009 to 2013, she was assistant vice provost and director of access initiatives in the Division of Enrollment Management at the university. Dr. Burns-Wallace is a graduate of Stanford University, where she majored in international relations and African American studies. She holds a master’s degree in public policy and international affairs from Princeton University and an educational doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

Update: On November 2, DeAngela Burns-Wallace was chosen to fill the position.
