Six Women Promoted to Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University

CaseCase Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, has announced that six women have been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor.

karen-abbott-resizeKaren Abbott was named associate professor of biology. Her research is focused on mathematical models of ecological processes. Dr. Abbott is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she double majored in mathematics and biology. She earned a Ph.D. in ecology and evolution from the University of Chicago.

cohenCorinne Coen was promoted to associate professor of organizational behavior in the Weatherhead School of Management at the university.

kaleinikovaZinaida Kaleinikova was appointed associate professor in the School of Dental Medicine. She holds a doctor of dental science degree from the Kaunas Medical University College of Odontology in Lithuania. She earned a master’s degree at Ohio State University and a doctor of dental medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University.

MizutaniClaudia Mizutani was promoted to associate professor of biology. Her research is focused on how specific gene expression patterns arise and how they evolve to produce different tissues and life forms. Dr. Mizutani joined the faculty at the university in 2009. She earned a Ph.D. at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and did her postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Diego.

petkovaRalitsa Petkova was named an associate professor of banking and finance in the Weatherhead School of Management at the university. She is a graduate of Hamliton College in Clinton, New York, where she doubled majored in economics and mathematics. Dr. Petkova earned a master’s degree in applied economics and a Ph.D. in finance at the University of Rochester.

sauveGenevieve Sauve is a new associate professor of chemistry. She joined the faculty at the university in 2009 after conducting postdoctoral research for several years at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Dr. Sauve is a graduate of Concordia University and holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
