Seven Women Taking on New Administrative Duties in Higher Education

andersonYolanda Banks Anderson was named interim associate vice chancellor for faculty development and resources at North Carolina Central University in Durham. She is a professor of environmental science at the university. She has served on the faculty at the university since 1996 and was promoted to full professor in 2010.

Dr. Anderson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She holds a master’s degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

AGorfineAshley Gorfine was named director of print and mail services at Princeton University in New Jersey. She was the manufacturing supervisor for digital print at RR Donnelley Inc.

Gorfine is a graduate of Pace University in Pleasantville, New York, where she majored in business administration and marketing.

helga-greenfield_webHelga Greenfield was named chief of staff in the Office of the President at Spelman College in Atlanta. She has been serving as associate vice president for government relations. She has been on the staff at Spelman College since 2007.

Greenfield is a graduate of Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in business administration and management from Norfolk State University in Virginia.

rebecca_schoenthalRebecca Schoenthal was appointed curator of exhibitions at the Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia. She has taught art history at the university on and off over the past 17 years.

Dr. Schoenthal holds a Ph.D. in at history from the University of Virginia.

ana_maria-minAna Maria Ulloa was named assistant dean of the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She will also serve as director of the Academic Advisory Center at the university. Ulloa has been senior associate dean of students for the School of General Studies at Columbia University in New York.

A graduate of New York University, Ulloa earned two master’s degrees from Columbia Teachers College.

weller-UNLTSusan J. Weller was appointed director of the University of Nebraska State Museum of Natural History. She has been serving as executive director and curator at the J.F. Bell Museum of Natural History at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Weller will also serve as a professor of entomology at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Weller will become president of the Entomological Society of America in 2017.

AlexisEloise Abernathy Alexis was named vice president for institutional advancement at Tennessee State University in Nashville. She served on the staff at Spelman College in Atlanta for 24 years, most recently as vice president for college relations.

Alexis is a graduate of Spelman College, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
