Virginia Tech Scholar Earns Three Awards from the American Society of Interior Designers

-tuckerLisa Tucker, an associate professor and chair of the interior design program in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech, has been honored with three awards from the American Society of Interior Designers. She will be honored at the ASID Design Awards in Boston on July 18.

  • The Educator Medalist Award honors service to the society.
  • The Nancy Vincent McClelland Merit Award is given to an individual who supports the interior design profession.
  • The Joel Polsky Prize honors outstanding scholarship in the field of interior design. Professor Tucker was honored for her book Sustainable Building Systems and Construction for Designers (Fairchild Books, 2014).

Dr. Tucker holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in architectural history from the University of Virginia. She earned a Ph.D. in architectural studies from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Her latest book is American Architects and the Single-Family Home: Lessons Learned from the Architects’ Small House Service Bureau (Routledge, 2015).
