Carol Ann Mooney to Step Down From Presidency of Saint Mary’s College

Mooney-WEBCarol Ann Mooney, the 11th president of Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, announced that she will step down on May 31, 2016. President Mooney will have led the college for 12 years.

During President Mooney’s tenure, the college’s endowment grew substantially to $160 million. Three graduate programs have been established and the college has seen a large increase in student diversity.

Mary L. Burke, chair of the board of trustees of Saint Mary’s College, said that “we are profoundly indebted to Carol for all she has accomplished for Saint Mary’s during her tenure as our president. Her tireless efforts have made Saint Mary’s financially and academically stronger, and more diverse. Saint Mary’s College, under her leadership, educates its students to make a difference in the world.”

A native of Norwich, New York, President Mooney graduated from Saint Mary’s College in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in English. She earned a juris doctorate at the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1977, graduating first in her class.
