Six Women Are Promoted to Full Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The University of Nebraska at Lincoln has announced the promotion of 16 faculty members to the rank of full professor. Six of the 16 faculty members promoted to full professor are women.

radhabalasubramanianRadha Balasubramanian was promoted to professor of modern languages and literatures. She is the author of The Influence of India on Leo Tolstoy and Tolstoy’s Influence on India: A Study of Reciprocal Receptions (Edwin Mellen Press, 2013). Professor Balasubramanian holds a Ph.D. in Russian literature from Indiana University in Bloomington.

gormanVanessa Gorman was named a full professor of history. Her most recent book, which she co-authored with her husband, is Corrupting Luxury in Ancient Greek Literature (University of Michigan Press, 2014). Professor Gorman has been a member of the history department at the University of Nebraska since 1994. She holds a Ph.D. in classical studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

Eileen HebetsEileen Hebets is a new full professor in the department of biological sciences. Dr. Hebets is a graduate of Albion College in Michigan. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Hebets holds a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Arizona.

Etsuko MoriyamaEtsuko Moriyama was promoted to professor of biological sciences. Her research is focused on biometrics, molecular evolution, and molecular population genetics. Professor Moriyama holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. from Ochanomizu University in Tokyo, Japan.

stenbergShari Stenberg was appointed a full professor of English. She is the author of Composition Studies Through a Feminist Lens (Parlor Press, 2013). Professor Stenberg is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She holds a Ph.D. from the University at Albany of the State University of New York System.

YiannakaAmalia Yiannaka was named a full professor of agricultural economics. Dr. Yiannaka has served on the University of Nebraska faculty since 2002. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute in Chania, Greece. Professor Yiannaka earned a Ph.D. in agricultural economics at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.
