Michele Dauber was appointed the Frederick I. Richman Professor of Law. She is the author of The Sympathetic State: Disaster Relief and the Origins of the American Welfare State (University of Chicago Press, 2013). Dr. Dauber is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds a law degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from Northwestern University.
Deborah Gruenfeld was named the Joseph McDonald Professor. She is a professor of organizational behavior in Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Dr. Gruenfeld has been on the Stanford faculty since 2000. She is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a master’s degree from New York University and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
Leonore Herzenberg was named the Department of Genetics Professor at the Stanford School of Medicine. She holds a doctorate in immunology from the Sorbonne in Paris. Dr. Herzenberg is the former editor of Journal of Immunology. Professor Herzenberg first came to Stanford in 1959 as a research assistant. She was named a full professor in 1989.
Pamela Lee is the new Jeanette and William Hayden Jones Professor of American Art and Culture at Stanford. Professor Lee is a graduate of Yale University and holds a Ph.D. in fine arts from Harvard University. She is the author of Forgetting the Art World (MIT Press, 2012).
Bernadette Meyler was appointed the Carl and Sheila Spaeth Professor at the Stanford Law School. Professor Meyler has taught at Stanford since 2013. From 2004 to 2013, she served on the faculty at Cornell University. Dr. Meyler is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in literature. She holds a law degree from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Irvine.
Allison D. Morantz was named the James and Nancy Kelso Professor at Stanford Law School. She joined the faculty at the law school in 2004 and was promoted to full professor in 2011. Dr. Morantz is a summa cum laude graduate of Harvard University. She earned a master’s degree in economics at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Professor Morantz is a graduate of Yale Law School and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University.
Erica Plambeck was named the Charles A. Holloway Professor at Stanford. She is a professor of operations, information and technology in the Graduate School of Business. Dr. Plambeck has been on the faculty at Stanford for 15 years. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, where she double majored in mathematics and industrial engineering. Professor Plambeck holds a master’s degree in management students from the University of Cambridge in England and a Ph.D. in engineering economic systems and operations research from Stanford.
