Hampton University in Virginia has appointed three women faculty members to department chairs.
Lisa VanHoose was named chair of the department of physical therapy in the School of Science. Before coming to Hampton, Dr. VanHoose served on the faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, where she majored in health sciences. Dr. VanHoose earned a master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Central Arkansas and a Ph.D. in rehabilitation science from the University of Kansas. She is currently completing work on a master of public health degree from the University of Kansas.
Ebony Andrews was appointed chair of the department of pharmacy practice in the School of Pharmacy. She is an assistant professor in the School of Pharmacy. Dr. Andrews is a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and earned a doctor of pharmacy degree at Hampton University in 2004.
Shonda Buchanan was named chair of the department of English and modern foreign languages in the School of Liberal Arts. She teaches courses in poetry, fiction, and creative writing. Buchanan holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in English from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.
