Ana Mari Cauce to Lead the University of Washington

The board of regents of the University of Washington has appointed Ana Mari Cauce as interim president, effective March 2. She will replace President Michael K. Young who is leaving to become president of Texas A&M University.
Dr. Cauce is provost and executive vice president at the University of Washington. She has held these posts for the past three years. Dr. Cauce joined the faculty at the university in 1986 as an assistant professor of psychology. She continues to hold positions as professor of psychology and professor of American ethnic studies.
Dr. Cauce is a native of Cuba, where her father was the minister of education before the Castro-led revolution. Her family fled to Florida when she was three years old. Dr. Cauce is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Miami and holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Yale University.
