Joanne K. Glasser, the first woman to serve as president of Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, has announced that she step down from her post on May 31. President Glasser has led Bradley University for the past eight years. Previously, she was president of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond from 2001 to 2007. Earlier in her career, she served as executive vice president and chief advancement officer at Towson University in Maryland.
In a statement, President Glasser said, “It has been an honor, privilege, and joy to have had the opportunity to serve as the tenth president of Bradley University. This difficult decision comes with many mixed feelings predicated upon my love of the institution, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Peoria community which has been my home for the last eight years. But, I believe it is time for a leadership change to allow fresh eyes and new ideas to continue the excellent momentum of our institution.”
President Glasser is a graduate of George Washington University in the nation’s capital and the University of Maryland School of Law.
