Bernadette Melnyk was elected president of the board of directors of the new National Consortium for Building Healthy Academic Communities. The consortium is a group of academic institutions across the United States, large and small, public and private, that are dedicated to crafting a comprehensive framework that enriches the health and wellness of students, faculty and staff.
Dr. Melnyk is the associate vice president for health promotion, chief wellness officer, dean of the College of Nursing, professor of pediatrics, and professor of psychiatry at Ohio State University in Columbus. Before coming to Ohio State in 2011, Dr. Melnyk was dean and Distinguished Foundation Professor in Nursing at Arizona State University. She previously taught at the University of Rochester from 1992 to 2004.
Dr. Melnyk is a graduate of West Virginia University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in clinical research from the University of Rochester.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
