New Administrative Roles for Six Women in Higher Education

ChernowBarbara D. Chernow was appointed executive vice president for finance and administration at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She has been serving as senior vice president for administration at Stony Brook University of the State University of New York System. She will begin her new job on March 1.

Chernow is a graduate of Brown University.

thumb_diane-anciDiane C. Anci was named vice president of enrollment and dean of admissions and financial aid at Kenyon College in Ohio. For the past 24 years, Anci has been on the staff at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She currently serves as vice president for enrollment and dean of admission. Her last day at Mount Holyoke will be March 31 and she will begin her new role on July 1.

Anci is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, where she majored in art history.

AlemaCooperAlmeta E. Cooper is the new senior vice president and general counsel at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. She was associate vice president for health sciences at the Wexner Medical Center of Ohio State University.

Cooper is a graduate of Wells College in Aurora, New York, where she majored in German. She earned a juris doctorate at the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago.

nelsenEleanor Nelson was named communications manager for the Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was a science writer for Wisconsin Public Television.

Dr. Nelson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in chemistry. She earned a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

HilaryPARKERHilary Parker was named special assistant to the president for strategic initiatives at Princeton University in New Jersey. She has been serving as senior associate director for administrative planning in the Office of the Executive Vice President.

Parker earned a bachelor’s degree in ecology and evolutionary biology at Princeton University. She holds a master’s degree in teaching from the College of New Jersey.

transueMary Transue is the new vice president for advancement at Georgia Highlands College in Rome. She will also serve as executive director of the Georgia Highlands College Foundation.

Transue was the associate vice president of executive affairs at the Gainesville campus of the University of North Georgia.
