The UF Preeminence effort is aimed at making the university an international leader in more than two dozen fields including health, agriculture, computing, and education. Three of the seven new hires in UF Preeminence fields are women.
Jane V. Aldrich was appointed professor of medicinal chemistry in the University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy. She has been serving as a professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Kansas. Professor Aldrich is a graduate of Michigan State University and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
Morgan Ernest was named an associate professor in the department of wildlife ecology and conservation. She has been serving as an associate professor of biology at Utah State University. Dr. Ernest is a graduate of the University of Arizona and holds a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico.
Karen Garrett was appointed professor of plant pathology in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. She has been serving as a professor of plant pathology at Kansas State University. Professor Garrett is a graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She holds master’s degrees in plant pathology and statistics from Colorado State University. Dr. Garrett earned a Ph.D. in botany and plant pathology at Oregon State University.
With over 25 years of experience in higher education, business, and public service, Dr. Kollmann has been serving as chancellor of the New Mexico State University Global Campus. She is slated to become the next president of Vermont State University in July.
