Karen M. Gill, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has announced that she will step down as dean at the end of the academic year. She will remain at the university as a member of the psychology department. Dr. Gill has served as dean since 2009.
Dr. Gill is a graduate of Stony Brook University of the State University of New York System. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from West Virginia University.
Maryann Jones, has stepped down as president of the Charleston School of Law. She had served in the post for only eight days. The law school has been embroiled in a controversy over a possible sale to a for-profit institution.
In a letter to the board Jones stated that the “level of vitriol, with all sides making me a lightening rod for an unfortunate situation that was not of my making, makes this truly a situation that I am unwilling at this stage of my life to undertake.”

Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
