One Woman Among the Finalists to Be the Ninth Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

HackettProvostThe University of Wisconsin System selected a field of five candidates to become the ninth chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Two of the five candidates chose to remove their names from consideration. The three remaining finalists will all visit campus on or before December 3 for interviews and public forums. One of the three remaining finalists is a woman.

Gail Hackett is provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has held this post since 2008. Dr. Hackett is also a professor of counseling and educational psychology at the University. Before joining the faculty at UMKC, Professor Hackett was university vice provost, founding dean of University College, and professor of counseling psychology at Arizona State University in Tempe. She joined the Arizona State faculty in 1989. Earlier in her career, she taught at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Ohio State University.

Dr. Hackett holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology, all from Pennsylvania State University.
