In Memoriam: Danielle Guichard-Ashbrook, 1954-2014

Danielle Guichard-Ashbrook, associate dean for international students and director of the International Students Office at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, died on November 5 at her home in Newton, Massachusetts. She was 60 years old and had suffered from breast cancer.
Guichard-Ashbrook was born in Germany and came to the United States with her parents at the age of 2. She earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois.
After serving as a program supervisor for the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Hong Kong, Guichard-Ashbrook returned to the United States and earned a master’s degree in education at Harvard University. She joined the staff at MIT in 1988. She was promoted to associate dean for international students in 2001.
