Jin Xu was appointed assistant professor in the department of finance in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. She previously served on the faculty at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Dr. Xu is a graduate of Renmin University in China. She holds a master’s degree from Peking University and an MBA and a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Chicago.
Rachel Carpenter was named clinical instructor of anesthesiology at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. She was an emergency clinician for Animal Emergency of Kane County in Elgin, Illinois.
Dr. Carpenter is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Hee Jung Kang was appointed an assistant professor of hospitality and tourism management. This past spring, she received her Ph.D. in hotel administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Dr. Kang holds a master’s degree in hotel management from Sejong University in South Korea.
Dr. Burris has served as provost of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina for the past four years. She is slated to become the next president of SUNY's Buffalo State University on July 1.
Dr. Thompson's appointment marks a return to Union Theological Seminary, where she previously taught for three years. Most recently, she was the Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair of Black Homiletics & Liturgics at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
