Maureen Donnelly was named president-elect of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists. The organization is devoted to the study and conservation of fish, amphibians, and frogs. She will serve a four-year term as president of the society. Professor Donnelly has served as secretary of the organization since 2001.
Dr. Donnelly is associate dean of Graduate Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of biological sciences at Florida International University in Miami. She has been on the faculty at Florida International University since 1994. Her research focuses on the ecology and evolutionary biology of neotropical amphibians and reptiles with a focus on species from Central and South America.
Professor Donnelly is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton. She holds a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Miami. She was a postdoctoral research fellow at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
