Eleven Women With New Administrative Duties at Colleges and Universities

weldonSherrie Weldon was promoted to chief marketing officer at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. She had been serving as vice president for marketing and communication.

Before joining the staff at the university in August 2013, Weldon served for more than 20 years in various corporate and agency roles in New York, London and San Francisco. Most recently, she was senior managing director at FTI Consulting in San Francisco.

Tonia-Moody-hs_rgbTonia Moody was appointed director of admissions and records at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi. She has been on the staff at the college since 2006.

Moody is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. She earned a master’s degree at Mississippi State University.

monicakimbrellMonica Kimbrell was named director of student recruitment and career development for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was project manager for the university’s Center for Information Technology Impacts on Children, Youth, and Families.

Dr. Kimbrell holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. She earned an MBA from King College.

russell.nellwebNell Russell is the new associate vice president for human resources and diversity at the University of Wyoming. For the past two years she was worked as an independent consultant. From 2004 to 2012, Russell was associate vice president for diversity at the University of Wyoming.

Russell is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, where she majored in political science. She holds a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Akron in Ohio.

orourkeElizabeth Breul O’Rourke was promoted to senior vice president for principal gifts and institutional advancement at Syracuse University in New York. Since 2009, she has served as vice president for principal gifts and secretary to the board of trustees. O’Rourke has been on the staff at the university since 1983.

O’Rourke holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of public administration degree from Syracuse University.

CCarolina-Cruz-Neirraarolina Cruz-Neira was named director of the George W. Donaghey Emerging Analytics Center at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. The center’s mission is to create new strategies for the state’s economic success. Dr. Cruz-Neira held the William Hansen Hall Board of Regents Superchair in Telecommunications, Electrical, and Computer Engineering at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Dr. Cruz-Neira is a graduate of Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

kostell_staceyStacey Kostell is the new vice president for enrollment management at the University of Vermont. Since 2010, she has served as assistant provost for enrollment management at the University of Illinois.

Kostell is a graduate of Indiana State University, where she majored in communication. She holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

deschamps smallAlexandrina Deschamps was named associate dean of the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Since 2008, she has been the director of student recruitment and outreach for the honors college.

A graduate of the University of the West Indies, Dr. Deschamps holds a master’s degree and a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts.

saterbakAnn Saterbak was named associate dean for undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston, Texas. She is a professor of bioengineering education at the university.

Professor Saterbak is a graduate of Rice University, where she majored in chemical engineering and biochemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois.

boydDiane Boyd was appointed director of the Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning at Auburn University in Alabama. She was associate director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.

Dr. Boyd holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University. She earned a doctorate at Auburn University.

Maria Mayberry is the new associate director of the Office of CorMarla_Mayberryporate and Foundation Relations at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She was the director of Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Oklahoma in Tulsa.

Mayberry is a graduate of Langston University in Oklahoma and holds a master’s degree in human relations and organizational development from the University of Oklahoma.
