College of the Holy Cross Adds Two Women to Its Faculty

college-of-the-holy-crossThe College of the Holy Cross, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Worcester, Massachusetts, has announced the hiring of six new tenure-track faculty for the 2014-15 academic year. Two of the new faculty members are women.

chem_avila-brontLynna Gabriela Avila-Bront was appointed assistant professor of chemistry. Her research focuses on the study of surface-absorbate systems and their electronic and chemical relationships. Dr. Avila-Bront is a graduate of Columbia University in New York City. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Chicago.

lauren_capotostoLauren Capotosto is a new assistant professor of education at the college. Her research is concentrated on adult and family literacy issues. Dr. Capotosto holds a master’s degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a second master’s degree and a doctorate in human development and education from Harvard University.
