New Teaching Roles for Six Women Faculty Members

habibRania Habib, an assistant professor in the department of languages, literatures, and linguistics at Syracuse University in New York, was named director of the university’s minor degree program in Arabic.

Dr. Habib has been on the Syracuse University faculty since 2008. She is a graduate of Al-Baath University in Syria. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Florida.

Denise Tucker was appointed chair of the department of communication sciences and disorders in the School of Health and Human Sciences at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She has been on the faculty at the university for more than two decades.

Dr. Tucker holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She earned a Ph.D. in audiology at the University of Virginia.

StoeckmannAnn M. Stoeckmann was promoted to full professor of biology at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. Dr. Stoeckmann has been on the faculty at the university since 2007. She previously taught at the Worthington campus of Pennsylvania State University and at Ohio State University.

Professor Stoeckmann is a graduate of the University of Washington. She holds a Ph.D. in zoology from Ohio State University.

MignonMignon Fogarty was named to the Donald W. Reynolds Chair in Media Entrepreneurship at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has written seven books and has a major internet presence, where she is known as the Grammar Girl. On her Quick and Dirty Tips website, Fogarty offers a “guide to the world of grammar, punctuation, usage, and fun developments in the English language.”

Fogarty is a graduate of the University of Washington, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in biology from Stanford University.

huangJingjing Huang was appointed assistant professor in the department of accounting and information systems at Virginia Tech. In June she completed he Ph.D. in accounting at the University of Oregon.

Dr. Huang is a graduate of the Shanghai University of Electric Power in China and holds a master’s degree in accounting from Iowa State University.

Kato FFumie Kato was named to the Bonnie E. Cone Early Career Professorship for Teaching at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has been serving as an associate professor in the department of languages and culture studies.

Dr. Kato holds two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney in Australia.
