HUD Official to Join the Faculty at Berkeley in January

galanteCarol Galante, an assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, has announced that she will join the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley in January. She will teach in the department of city and regional planning in the College of Environmental Design as the I. Donald Terner Distinguished Professor in Affordable Housing and Urban Policy and will be the director of the Berkeley Program on Housing and Urban Policy.

Prior to her appointment at HUD, Galante was president and chief executive of BRIDGE Housing Corporation, the largest non-profit developer of affordable, mixed-income and mixed-use developments in California. She has also worked for the cities of Santa Barbara, Philadelphia and Richmond, California, in city planning and community economic development.

Galante is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. She holds a master of city planning degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
