Two Women Announce Their Retirements From High-Level Posts in Academia

greyMargaret Grey, dean of the School of Nursing and the Annie Goodrich Professor at Yale University, has announced that she will step down from her post as dean in August 2015. She joined the Yale faculty in 1993 as associate dean for scholarly affairs and was named dean of the School of Nursing in 2005.

Dr. Grey is a pediatric nurse practitioner whose research focuses on diabetes. In announcing her retirement, Dr. Grey stated, “it has been an honor and privilege to serve Yale Nursing School in this capacity. Now it is time for new leadership, and for me to return to teaching, mentoring young scholars, and my program of research which has been neglected of late. I believe that I can best serve the School going forward by re-engaging in research.”

Professor Grey holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in pediatric nursing from Yale University, and a doctorate in public health and social psychology from Columbia University.

Christina Chavez Kelly has retired from the staff of New Mexico State University after 25 years serving the institution in several capacities. Most recently, she was the assistant vice president in the Office of Student Diversity and Outreach.

Dr. Kelley is a graduate of New Mexico State University. As an undergraduate, she as the first woman to serve as the student regent on the governing board of the university. She went on to earn a juris doctorate at the law school of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She joined the staff at New Mexico State in 1989 as assistant to the president.
