Two Women Among the Four Finalists for Dean of the Honors College at New Mexico State University

nmsuNew Mexico State University in Las Cruces has announced four finalists for the position of dean of the NMSU Honors College. All four candidates are current members of the university’s faculty. All four candidates have participated in public forums on campus. Two of the four finalists are women.

Martha Mitchell is associate dean for research in the university’s College of Engineering. Earlier, she was chair of the department of chemical engineering at the university and held the Robert Davis Professorship. Dr. Mitchell is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

chaikenMiriam Chaiken is a professor and chair of the department of anthropology at the university. She joined the faculty in 2009 after teaching for 20 years at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Professor Chaiken is a graduate of Arizona State University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
