A task force of students, faculty, staff, and alumni at the University of Utah recommended that changes be made to the university’s fight song “Utah Man.” University President David Pershing has accepted the recommendations and has announced several changes.
In printed versions of the song, the title will be “Utah Man/Fan.” The line in the song, “our coeds are the fairest” will be changed to “our students are the finest.” The line, “no other gang of college men” will be replaced with “no rival band of college fans.”
In official versions of the song printed by the university, the new words will be used. However, President Pershing stated that “historical renditions of the song will always be acceptable.”
