Three Women Faculty Members Named to Emerita Status at Carleton College

CarletonCarleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, has granted emerita status to three women faculty members.

mcneilAlison McNeil Ketterling was appointed the William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of Arts History Emerita. She has been on the Carleton College faculty since 1982. She serves as editor of the Journal of Historians of Netherlandish Art. Dr. Ketterling is a graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley.

ulmerAnne Close Ulmer was named professor of German emerita. She has taught courses in German language, literature, and culture at the college since 1978. She has served on the editorial board of Modern Austrian Literature. Professor Ulmer holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. She earned a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Yale University.

weinerRuth Weiner is the Class of 1944 Professor of Theater and the Liberal Arts, Emerita. She joined the English department faculty at Carleton in 1969. The department of theater was established in 2003 and became a major in 2006. Professor Weiner holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.
