Three Women Join the Tenure-Track Faculty at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana

The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, has appointed three women to its tenure-track faculty. “Rose-Hulman is defined by both our people and the quality of our education, and these individuals have interwoven themselves into a community committed to curiosity and enduring excellence,” said Provost Ellen Goldey. “Our new faculty are some of the best and brightest with a passion for teaching and are dedicated to the growth of each and every student.”

Hannah Kimmel is an assistant professor of biology and biomedical engineering. Her research focuses on modeling the complexity and heterogeneity of tissue microenvironments to identify key factors responsible for modulating cellular responses. Dr. Kimmel is a graduate of Rose-Hulman, where she majored in biomedical engineering. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Nicole Ramo is an assistant professor of biology and biomedical engineering. She studies the implementation of superabsorbent polymers for internally cured concrete. Dr. Ramo is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she majored in chemistry. She earned a Ph.D. in materials engineering from Purdue University in Indiana and later conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Amanda Ross is a new assistant professor of computer science and software engineering. Her research includes work on student attrition at various exit points along computer science pathways, with attention to gender differences and ways in which artificial intelligence can be leveraged for qualitative analysis. Dr. Ross is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she majored in mathematics and computer science. She holds a master’s degree in computer science and a Ph.D. in engineering education from Virginia Tech.
