Holy Family University Names Its Fifth President

Maureen McGarrity was named the fifth president of Holy Family University. The university, founded in 1954, operates three campuses in Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Bensalem, and Newtown. The university enrolls about 2,100 graduate students and 900 graduate students. Women make up 75 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. McGarrity has been serving as provost at Holy Family University. She holds a master’s degree in biology from Villanova University in Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in microbiology from Saint Louis University in Missouri.

“I am honored to have been chosen to lead this wonderful institution and am eager to promote the university’s academic rigor and holistic learning environment,” said Dr. McGarrity. “During the 37 years I have spent in the ministry of Catholic higher education, I have seen it transform individuals and families.”
