Bethany Cieslowski was named senior director of academic programs and interim divisional dean of the School of Nursing at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. A clinical associate professor with the university, Dr. Cieslowski has been serving as division director of the bachelor of science in nursing degree program. Before joining the George Mason faculty, she taught at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she also served as associate dean of undergraduate programs.
Dr. Cieslowski is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she majored in nursing. She holds a master’s degree in biomedical informatics from Columbia University in New York City and a doctor of nursing practice degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Irma Medina has been named the inaugural dean of the division of integrative and applied learning at Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts. Medina has worked for the community college for the past 22 years. Since 2023, she has served as director of integrated learning. Earlier, she was the inaugural coordinator of the Pathways transfer program.
An alumna of Holyoke Community College, Medina earned her bachelor’s degree in urban politics with a minor in history from Mount Holyoke College.
Susan English has been appointed dean of general education and professional studies at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, Maryland. Dr English has extensive experience in academic leadership at community colleges. An associate professor of mathematics, she has been serving as dean of Wor-Wic Community College’s math and science department.
Dr. English is a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She holds a master’s degree from Salisbury University in Maryland and a doctorate from Morgan State University in Baltimore.
Raida Abuizam is interim dean of the Honors and University College at Purdue University Northwest in Indiana. In addition to her new responsibilities, Dr. Abuizam will continue to serve as the university’s associate vice chancellor for academic affairs. A faculty member for more than 27 years, she has served in several leadership roles in the College of Business, including associate dean for graduate studies, associate dean for undergraduate programs, and chair of the department of quantitative business studies.
Dr. Abuizam earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan. She holds an MBA from Purdue University Northwest and a Ph.D. in management science and operations management from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
