Lori Gonko has been named the next president of Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan. Her appointment is effective July 1.
Macomb Community College enrolls more than 16,000 students, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women represent about 57 percent of the student population.
Dr. Gonko’s presidency marks a return to Macomb Community College, where she previously served as a manager in career and technical education. In 2012, she joined Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan, where she has served as interim president since July 2025. Before her interim appointment, she had served in several leaderships roles at the college, including coordinator of program improvement and effectiveness and vice president of strategy and human resources.
A two-time graduate of Oakland University in Michigan, Dr. Gonko holds a doctorate in community college leadership from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. She currently teaches as an adjunct professor for the same program from which she earned her doctoral degree.
