Ten Women Promoted to Full Professor at the University of Kansas

Bernadette Gray-Little, chancellor of the University of Kansas, has announced the promotion of 25 faculty members to the rank of full professor. Ten of the 25 faculty members who were promoted are women.

Santa Arias was named professor of Spanish and Portuguese. Dr. Arias is a graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Spanish literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Sally Joan Cornelison was appointed full professor of the history of art. She has been on the faculty at the university since 2002. Dr. Cornelison is a graduate of the University of Missouri and holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University in New York and a Ph.D. from the University of London in England.

Changming Duan was promoted to a full professorship in psychology and research in education. She is a graduate of Hefei Polytechnic University in China. Professor Duan earned a master’s degree at the University of Waterloo in Canada and a Ph.D. in counseling and social psychology at the University of Maryland-College Park.

Pamela Gordon is a new full professor of the classics at the University of Kansas. A graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio, Dr. Gordon earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in ancient Greek from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.

Andrea Follmer Greenhoot was appointed a professor of psychology. Her research focuses on cognitive development with a special emphasis on memory development. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Debra Gwen Hedden was named a full professor of music. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Iowa and an educational doctorate from the University of Northern Iowa.

Adrianne Dennis Kunkel was promoted to professor of communications studies. Dr. Kunkel is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in communication from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Anna Linda Jane Neill was appointed professor of English. A native of New Zealand, she holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Her latest book is Primitive Minds: Evolution and Spiritual Experience in the Victorian Novel (Ohio State University Press, 2013).

Mary Jo Reiff is a new professor of English at the University of Kansas. She is the co-author of Genre: An Introduction to History, Theory, Research, and Pedagogy (Parlor Press 2010).

Holly Lynn Storkel was promoted to professor of speech-language-hearing sciences and disorders. She is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington and earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Washington.
