Emerson College Scholar Wins the Pulitzer Prize in Biography

Megan Marshall, an associate professor of creative writing at Emerson College in Boston, has won the Pulitzer Prize for biography for her book Margaret Fuller: A New American Life (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2013). Fuller was a nineteenth-century author, journalist, and advocate for women’s rights. She died in a shipwreck off Fire Island in New York in 1850.
Professor Fuller is a graduate of Harvard University. Her earlier book, Peabody Sisters: Three Sisters Who Ignited American Romanticism (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2005), was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
