Marylou Yam to Lead Notre Dame of Maryland University

yamThe board of trustees of Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore has named Marylou Yam as the 14th president in the educational institution’s 119-year history. She will take on her new role on July 1.

Dr. Yam has been serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, New Jersey. She is the first woman to have served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and the first woman dean of the School of Business Administration at St. Peter’s University.

Dr. Yam is a graduate of Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, where she majored in nursing. She holds two master’s degrees in nursing education from Teachers College at Columbia University and a Ph.D. in nursing from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.

Notre Dame of Maryland University enrolls about 1,200 women in its undergraduate programs and 1,600 students in its co-educational graduate programs.
