Ten Women Assuming New Administrative Roles at American Universities

Amy Wohlert was named chief of staff to Robert G. Frank, president of the University of New Mexico. She has been serving as interim director of the School of Public Administration at the university. Earlier, she was dean of graduate studies and vice provost.

Dr. Wohlert holds a bachelor’s degree, an MBA, and a master’s degree, all from the University of New Mexico. She earned a Ph.D. in speech-language pathology from Northwestern University.

Jana Jasinski was appointed associate dean for the College of Graduate Studies at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. She is chair of the department of sociology at the university and has served on the faculty since 1999.

Dr. Jasinski holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in sociology, all from the University of New Hampshire.

Kimberly Lamparelli is the new director of the Gebbie Speech-Language Clinic at Syracuse University in New York. She was the director of clinical services at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York.

Lamparelli is a graduate of the University of Florida and earned a master’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Susie Brubaker-Cole was promoted to vice provost for student affairs at Oregon State University. Since 2008, she has served as associate provost for academic success and engagement. She will begin her new duties on July 1. She is the former associate vice provost for undergraduate education at Stanford University.

Dr. Brubaker-Cole is a graduate of the University of Washington. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in French literature from Yale University.

Jennifer Heisey was named the next executive director of the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association and vice president of alumni relations for the University of Cincinnati Foundation. She has been serving as associate vice president for alumni relations at the University of Louisville.

Heisey is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Carla Peterson was appointed director of the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography at Florida State University in Tallahassee, effective May 7. She is the artistic director of New York Live Arts, the home base of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.

Peterson is a graduate of the University of Illinois and holds a master’s of fine arts degree from Ohio State University.

Diana Jergovic was named the inaugural vice president for strategy implementation at the California Institute of Technology. She has been serving as associate provost for academic and budgetary initiatives at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Jergovic holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in psychology, all from Loyola University in Chicago. She also earned an MBA at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

Apryle M. Cotton is the new assistant vice chancellor for human resources at Washington University in St. Louis. She was the assistant director of human resources at the university’s School of Medicine.

Cotton is a graduate of Saint Louis University.

Sara Childs was promoted to director of the 7,060-acre Duke Forest. She has been program director at the university’s forest since 2011 and is a former officer for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Childs is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree in ecosystem science and management from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University.

Ellen Amsel is the inaugural chief information security officer at Princeton University in New Jersey. She was manager of information security and compliance at Guidewire Software in San Mateo, California. She has held information security positions at Stanford University and the University of California, San Francisco.

Amsel is a graduate of William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. She holds master’s degrees from Norwich University in Vermont and the University of Phoenix.
