Margaret Freije Is the First Woman Dean of the College of the Holy Cross

Margaret N. Freije was named vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. She is the first woman in the 170-year history of the college to serve as dean and hold the top academic post at the educational institution.
Dr. Freije has been serving as interim dean since last July. Previously, she was associate dean of the college from 2004 to 2013. She joined the staff at the college in 1986.
Dr. Freije is a graduate of Boston College, where she majored in mathematics. She holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
