Rio Grande University President to Lead The Higher Learning Commission

Barbara Gellman-Danley, president of the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, Ohio, has been named president of the Higher Learning Commission. The Higher Learning Commission is a regional accrediting agency that evaluates 1,000 colleges and universities in a 19-state region stretching from West Virginia to Arizona. Dr. Gellman-Danley will remain as president of Rio Grande University through the end of the current academic year and take on her new assignment in July.
Dr. Gellman-Danley became president of Rio Grande University in 2009. Previously, she was vice chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, president of Antioch University McGregor, and vice chancellor of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
President Gellman-Danley is a graduate of Syracuse University in New York. She holds a master of library science degree from Simmons College in Boston, an MBA from Oklahoma City University, and a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Oklahoma.
