Shali Zhang, dean of the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library at the University of Montana has been selected to receive the John Ames/Humphrey/OCLC Forest Press Award from the American Library Association. She will be honored at the association’s annual convention in Las Vegas in June.
Dr. Zhang has been at the University of Montana since 2012. She is a graduate of Lanzhou University in China and holds a master of library science degree from the University of Tennessee and a doctorate in education from Kansas State University.
Shauna Carlisle, an assistant professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington-Bothell, was awarded the 2014 Career Enhancement Fellowship for Junior Faculty from the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. The fellowship will provide funding and a mentor for Dr. Carlisle’s research on the relationship between stress, coping, and health.
Dr. Carlisle is a graduate of the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, where she majored in psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in social welfare from the University of Washington.
Rebecca L. Pratt, associate professor of anatomy at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of Michigan State University, has been chosen to receive the Basmajian Award from the American Association of Anatomists. She will be honored at the association’s annual meeting in San Diego next month.
Dr. Pratt is a graduate of Michigan State University. She holds a Ph.D. in cell biology and anatomy from Purdue University.
Lisa Tedesco, dean of the Laney Graduate School and vice provost of academic affairs for graduate studies at Emory University in Atlanta, has been selected to receive the 2014 Gies Award from the American Dental Education Association. She will receive the award on March 17 in San Antonio.
Dean Tedesco has been at Emory University since 2006. Previously, she was a professor and associate dean at the School of Dentistry at the University of Michigan. Dr. Tedesco earned a doctorate in educational psychology at the University at Buffalo of the State University of New York system.
Maria C. Pantelia, professor and chair of the department of classics at the University of California at Irvine will receive the Theodore Saloutos Award from the American Hellenic Council. She will be honored at the council’s annual awards gala in Los Angeles on March 22.
Professor Pantelia has served on the faculty at the university since 1996. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
