University of Ottawa Suspended Entire Men’s Hockey Team Due to Sexual Assault Allegations

uottawa-logo-2The University of Ottawa in Canada has suspended its entire men’s hockey team after allegations arose that several members of the team engaged in a sexual assault of an unnamed women. According to published reports, the alleged assault occurred when the team was in Thunder Bay to play two scheduled games at Lakehead University. The reports stated that the victim has so far failed to press charged in the case.

In a statement announcing the suspension of the team, a university spokesperson said, “The University has high expectations of all our students and staff. The alleged misconduct is not in keeping with the values that are at the heart of athletics and student life on campus.”
