Adele Naude Santos, dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, announced that she will step down as dean at the end of the academic year. She will stay on at MIT as a professor of architecture and a professor of urban studies.
Professor Santos has served as dean for 10 years. Before coming to MIT, she was a professor of architecture at the University of California at Berkeley and was the founding dean of the School of Architecture at the University of California at San Diego.
Professor Santos holds a master of architecture in urban design from Harvard University as well as master of architecture and a master’s degree in city planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mary Miller, dean of Yale College, will step down from her post as dean in June. Dr. Miller is the Sterling Professor of History of Art and will continue in that role. She has served as dean of the college since December 2008. Dr. Miller is the co-author of The Spectacle of the Late Maya Court: Reflections on the Murals of Bonampak (University of Texas Press, 2013).
Dr. Miller is a graduate of Princeton University in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Yale University.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
