Three Women Will Become Provosts This Summer

zuckermanMary Ellen Zuckerman was named provost at the College of Brockport, a campus of the State University of New York system. She will take office in July. The college, located near Rochester, New York, enrolls about 7,100 undergraduate students and 1,100 graduate students. Women make up 55 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Zukerman currently serves as professor and dean of business at Ithaca College in New York. Previously, from 1999 to 2008, Dr. Zuckerman served as dean of business at the State University College at Geneseo. She is the author of A History of Popular Women’s Magazines in the United States, 1792-1995 (Prager, 1998) and Sources on the History of Women’s Magazines, 1792-1960: An Annotated Bibliography (Greenwood, 1991).

Dr. Zuckerman is a graduate of Simmons College in Boston. She earned an MBA and a Ph.D. at Columbia University in New York City.

Jen WardJenifer K. Ward will be the new provost at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. Currently, she is dean at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. She will begin her job as provost on July 1. Earlier in her career, she served on the faculty at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Rhodes College in Tennessee, and the College of Wooster in Ohio.

Dr. Ward is a graduate of Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. She holds a Ph.D. in Germanic language and literatures from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

sklederAnne A. Skleder has been selected as the next provost at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. When she takes office in June, Dr. Skleder will also hold the title of senior vice president. Since 2010, Dr. Skleder has been provost, vice president of academic affairs, and professor of psychology at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania.

Before joining the faculty at Cabrini College, Professor Skleder was dean of Chatham College for Women at Chatham University in Pittsburgh. Earlier in her career, she was vice provost at Alvernia University in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Skleder is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in social and organizational psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia.
