A Trio of New Deans

Barbara-BroomeBarbara Broome was chosen as the new dean of the College of Nursing at Kent State University in Ohio. She will begin her new assignment on March 17. Currently, Dr. Broome is associate dean and chair of the department of community-mental health at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing.

Dr. Broome holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the College of Nursing at Kent State University. She earned a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She has been on the faculty at the University of South Alabama since 1999.

joanhirtJoan Hirt was appointed interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She will take over as interim dean on January 1. Dr. Hirt is a professor of educational leadership and policy studies in the university’s School of Education.

Professor Hirt joined the faculty at Virginia Tech in 1996 and was promoted to full professor in 2009. She is a graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and holds a master’s degree from the University of Maryland and a doctorate from the University of Arizona.

bridgeman_webJacquelyn Bridgeman was named interim dean of the University of Wyoming College of Law. She has served as associate dean of the law school since 2010 and has been on the faculty since 2002.

Professor Bridgeman is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Chicago Law School.
