The Colorado Women’s College at the University of Denver has issued a new report entitled, Benchmarking Women’s Leadership in the United States. The report examines the status of women in 14 different sectors of American society including business, the academic world, arts, entertainment, law, the military, and several other categories.
In the section of the academic world that will be of particular interest to readers of WIAReport, the study found that women make up 24.5 percent of “positional leaders.” The study also found that women were only 29.1 percent of the tenure-track faculty at doctoral institutions. Survey data also showed that women at four-year institutions, on average, made 20 percent less than their male peers.
