Five Women in New Faculty Posts

ErinReidErin Reid, an assistant professor of organizational behavior at Boston University, was named a Peter Paul Career Development Professor at the university. The posts are awarded to junior faculty members who are emerging as leaders in their field. The professorships provide a stipend to aid in the scholar’s research.

Dr. Reid holds master’s and doctoral degrees from Harvard University. Her research focuses on gender differences in how men and women cope with jobs that consume far more time than the traditional 40-hour week.

TATIANABergerTatiana Berger was named an associate professor of architecture at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design in San Diego, California. She heads her own architectural firm based in La Jolla, California, and has taught at Boston Architectural College and Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.

Berger is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and holds a master’s degree in architecture from Princeton University.

Teresa Gali-IzardTeresa Gali-Izard was appointed chair of the department of landscape architecture at the University of Virginia. She joined the University of Virginia faculty in 2012. She is the co-founder of Arquitectura Agronomia, a landscape architecture firm based in Barcelona, Spain.

Professor Gali-Izard is a graduate of the School of Architecture of Barcelona. She is the author of the 2005 book The Same Landscapes: Ideas and Interpretations.

Foundas-AnneAnne. L. Foundas was named the inaugural chair of the new department of neurology and cognitive neuroscience at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She was a professor and vice chair of clinical research in the department of neurology at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans.

Dr. Foundas is a graduate of Wellesley College and the Louisiana State University School of Medicine.

Geri RichmondGeraldine L. Richmond was appointed to the Presidential Chair in Science at the University of Oregon. Dr. Richmond is only the second scholar to be named to a Presidential Chair at the university. She was serving as the Richard M. and Patricia H. Noyes Professor of chemistry at the university.

Dr. Richmond is co-founder and chair of the Committee on the Advancement of Women Chemists. Before joining the faculty at the University of Oregon in 1985, she taught at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. Professor Richmond is a graduate of Kansas State University and holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley.
