Salem State University Scholar Awarded the Iowa Poetry Prize

apearyAlexandria Peary was awarded the prestigious Iowa Poetry Prize from the University of Iowa Press. Peary was honored for her collection of poetry, Control Bird Alt Delete. The collection will be published by the University of Iowa Press in the spring.

She has published two previous poetry collections Fall Foliage Called Bathers & Dancers (Backwaters Press, 2008) and Lid to the Shadow (Slope Editions, 2010).

Peary is an associate professor at Salem State University in Massachusetts. She is a graduate of Colby College. Dr. Peary holds master of fine arts degrees from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She earned a Ph.D. in English from the University of New Hampshire.
