In Memoriam: Nancy Godwin Baldwin, 1935-2013

Nancy Godwin Baldwin, the long-time director of admissions at Sweet Briar College in Virginia, has died following a long illness. She was 78 years old.
Baldwin was a native of Oklahoma but moved to Virginia as a young girl. She was a member of the Class of 1957 at Sweet Briar College and earned a master’s degree in speech and drama at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
Baldwin joined the admissions office staff at Sweet Briar College in 1958. She was named director of admissions in 1966 and served in that role for 14 years. After retiring from admissions in 1980, in 1986 she returned to the college as editor of the alumnae magazine, a post she held until 2007.
