Education Conference Renamed to Honor Longtime Indiana University Professor

McCarthyThe Indiana University School of Education announced that its Education Leadership Summer Conference, now in its 46th year, will be renamed to honor Martha McCarthy, a Chancellor’s Professor Emerita at the university. Beginning next summer the conference will be called the Martha McCarthy Education Law and Policy Institute.

Professor McCarthy retired from the university in 2011 after spending 36 years on the faculty of the School of Education. She is now serving as the first Presidential Professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Dr. McCarthy earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and her master’s degree in instructional management and planning from the University of Kentucky. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Florida.
